His line of research is devoted to nonlinear differential equations. He has obtained some results of existence and multiplicity of solution in differential equations, both ordinary and partial, as well as difference equations and fractional ones. The techniques used are mainly based on topological methods and iterative techniques. An important part of his research focuses on the study of, both quantitative and qualitative, properties of the so-called Green’s functions.

He is the author of more than 130 research articles indexed in the Citation Index Report. Moreover he is the author of two monographs published by Springer Verlag.

Listed as one of the most cited mathematicians of the world according to the Essential Science Indicators of the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) of Philadelphia. His Hirsch index (h-index) is, according to the institute, h = 25.

He has given four plenary lectures and 35 invited ones in international conferences, among which we mention the series Equadiff, AIMS or World Congress of Nonlinear Analysts.

He has surpervised four Ph.D. doctoral theses.

He is a member of the editorial board of three research journals indexed in the Citation Index Report.

He has been a member of the organizing committee of eight international conferences and the scientific committee of four ones.

He has been the academic secretary of the Faculty of Mathematics and head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

At present he is the head of the Institute of Mathematics at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
